Can we bring our own officiant/musicians?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own officiant and musician. You just need to let the event manager know and provide their contact information.
How much time do I get?
For a wedding ceremony only, you get total of two-and-a-half hours on the property. This gives you access to the church, the garden, and the dressing rooms. For ceremonies with a reception, you will have a total of eight hours. This is usually ample time for the wedding, reception, set up and clean up. You may also book additional hours, or depending on your needs, hourly rentals may be available.
Is there parking?
We have no designated parking spots, though there is a loading white zone directly in front of the church on Lyon Street that can accommodate two vehicles. All other parking is on the street in a residential neighborhood with posted time limits and restrictions. We recommend allowing 10 to 20 minutes to find parking. There is a paid parking garage on California Street at the Jewish Community Center.
How many guests does the Sanctuary/Parish House hold?
We can seat up to 100 in the Sanctuary or 120 with standing room only. The Parish House can hold 80 guests for a formal, sit-down dinner reception and up to 100 for a casual, cocktail-style reception.
Where can I get more information about the church and its theology?
You can visit www.sfswedenborgian.org for more information or attend one of our Sunday services at 11 AM. You can also call us at 415-346-6466 and we will get you in contact with the minister.
Is there a reception area?
Yes, our Parish House, which is conveniently located next to the Church, serves as the reception area.
Is there a dressing room?
Yes, we have a lovely dressing room in the Sanctuary with a private bathroom. There is also an additional room and bathroom that can serve as a second dressing room.
Can people from other religions or non-religious have a wedding here?
Absolutely! Though the church has an active and vibrant congregation rooted in the Swedenborgian Christian tradition, the wedding program is open to people of all backgrounds and practices.
What is included in the wedding fee?
The fee includes the use of the sanctuary and garden, the assistance of a venue coordinator, wedding rehearsal, all candles in the church, a fire in the fireplace, dressing rooms, and use of the garden for wedding photos. The minister’s services and staff musicians are an additional fee (prices vary, please inquire).
Can we throw rice, flower petals, or confetti during the ceremony?
Unfortunately, we do not allow rice, flower petals, or confetti in the Sanctuary. However, a small amount of silk flower petals are allowed and they must be picked up after the ceremony. Outdoors, we recommend blowing bubbles or waving banners!
